St. Paul, MN – December 6, 2002 – Minneapolis-based Utne Reader, an alternative bimonthly magazine that reprints articles from alternative media sources, has announced a host of design and navigation improvements to the magazine and the web site. The new-look web site, www.utne.com, operates on the Internet Publishing System™ from iProduction.

Utne Reader co-publisher Julie Ristau supervised the design and development process. Art director Kristi Anderson and a team of artists produced the new graphic designs for the magazine. The new tagline for the publication is “A Different Read on Life.”

iProduction President Steve Laliberte said Utne Reader is a good example of the new success model for print/web publishers. “Utne Reader produces both print and web versions that are two discreet products originating from a single editorial franchise and a smaller, more efficient team,” he said. “They avoided hiring an army of programmers just to run their site. You’ll see more and more publishers begin to operate this way. It makes financial sense."
